Known as the ‘Warm Heart of Africa’, Malawi is one of Africa’s most welcoming and breathtaking destinations. Its incredible geographical diversity stretches from the rolling Central African Plateau and the Dedza-Kirk Highlands to the dramatic peaks of Mount Mulanje and the vast expanse of Lake Malawi. These breathtaking landscapes, combined with pioneering conservation efforts, offer unforgettable safari experiences. Best of all, Malawi remains relatively undiscovered – you’ll have wildlife sightings all to yourself.

Whether you’re trekking through the Zomba Plateau, embarking on a boat safari in Liwonde National Park, or diving into the crystal-clear waters of Lake Malawi, Malawi offers an authentic and unspoiled African experience.

  • Majete Wildlife Reserve is a conservation success, with thriving populations of lions, leopards, rhinos, and sable antelopes.
  • Nkhotakota Wildlife Reserve shelters elephants, antelope, and rare birds like the giant kingfisher and palm-nut vulture.

When to go to Malawi

The best time to visit Malawi is during the dry season (May to October), when the bush thins, making wildlife easier to spot. During these months, temperatures are comfortable, ranging from 24°C (75°F) in the daytime to 14°C (57°F) at night.

October–March brings the wet season. This is the prime time for crocodile nesting and migratory bird sightings.
