Sabbaticals and experiential holidays in Romania

Medieval churches, Saxon villages, gothic castles and swathes of rolling mountains form the fairytale setting to a stay in Romania.

The majesty of this fascinating country lies in its natural landscapes: The beauty of the Danube Delta as it flows into the Black Sea; the towering Carpathian Mountains with their breath-taking gorges and crystalline rivers; secluded villages surrounded by virgin forests.

Alongside Romania’s natural beauty lies its cultural richness. Medieval castles and fortified churches populate the Transylvanian countryside. Folk music, dance and festivals fill historic towns with life. Peaceful countryside villages are imbued with the charm of a slow pace of life and age-old traditions.

      Wildlife in Romania

Romania is a wild haven for flora and fauna. The Carpathian Mountains occupy 55% of Romania’s territory. The Carpathians house the last of Europe’s virgin forests, the home of countless mammals. The Carpathians are home to over 45% of Europe’s brown bear population, grey wolves, European bison and lynx. In addition to these mountains the Danube Delta is a biosphere reserve known for its diversity, with over 1200 species of plant, 60 species of fish and the largest colony of pelicans in Europe.
